Sadly, the Christmas meal had to be cancelled at the last minute due to the snow falling - we did not want to risk any falls or accidents on the way to the meeting.
Further info will follow in due course, meanwhile enjoy the snow!

Friday 9 December is our Christmas Party, when the committee will provide hot food with members contributing either salad or puddings.  Please bring your own cutlery/plates/dishes/glasses and drink. Don't forget your Secret Santa Sock where each member brings a pair of socks: one containing a small gift (£2-£3) wrapped in Christmas paper and inserted inside the sock.  The other sock will be placed in a container to become a lucky dip.

May Meeting - AGM

Meetings of the Dodford WI are held on the second Friday of each month (except August) at 7.30pm in the Dodford Village Hall, and visitors will always be made welcome, and for potential members the first visit is free.

On Friday 12 May we held our Annual Meeting and voted on this year's two Resolutions: A) Alleviating Loneliness, and B) Plastic Soup: Keep microplastic fibres out of our oceans.   Margaret Bazley, WIA, ably guided us through the proceedings.  Interesting debates followed, with the resultant voting:    A)  For: 0, Against: 8, Abstain: 4 - No Discretion and  B)  For: 10, Against: 0 - No Discretion.  In the case of A) it was felt that this would be unworkable.  Alleviating loneliness is a national problem, but needs resolving locally.

The secret ballot then took place on the future President, with Pat Squires agreeing to be our President.  So we can look forward to the continuation of Dodford WI.  But we do need more members, so please come and join one of our meetings and give us a whirl...     Delicious refreshments were provided by Raili Caldicott and Sue Wheeler.

We hope you enjoyed your Christmas break and look forward to a new 2017.

Our first meeting of the year is on Friday 13th!

The theme of the January meeting has not yet been decided, so watch this space...
