May Meeting - AGM

Meetings of the Dodford WI are held on the second Friday of each month (except August) at 7.30pm in the Dodford Village Hall, and visitors will always be made welcome, and for potential members the first visit is free.

On Friday 12 May we held our Annual Meeting and voted on this year's two Resolutions: A) Alleviating Loneliness, and B) Plastic Soup: Keep microplastic fibres out of our oceans.   Margaret Bazley, WIA, ably guided us through the proceedings.  Interesting debates followed, with the resultant voting:    A)  For: 0, Against: 8, Abstain: 4 - No Discretion and  B)  For: 10, Against: 0 - No Discretion.  In the case of A) it was felt that this would be unworkable.  Alleviating loneliness is a national problem, but needs resolving locally.

The secret ballot then took place on the future President, with Pat Squires agreeing to be our President.  So we can look forward to the continuation of Dodford WI.  But we do need more members, so please come and join one of our meetings and give us a whirl...     Delicious refreshments were provided by Raili Caldicott and Sue Wheeler.

Friday 9 June we are invited to a mini Fish & Chip supper in Jackie Parker's garden, 6.30 for 7pm, Cost approx £5.  Contact Jackie if you want directions.  Bring your own drink, and perhaps this year we might actually enjoy some sunshine !!!!

The Dodford Show will be held at Dodford Village Hall on Saturday 2 September 2017.  Schedules will be available from Penny Lydon (07706 153618 and on Gardening Club website) and Jackie Parker (01527 880640) and on our website.

April meeting

Meetings of the Dodford WI are held on the second Friday of each month (except August) at 7.30pm in the Dodford Village Hall, and visitors will be made welcome and for potential members the first visit is free.

March's meeting was most interesting when Pat Tansell told us how life was for the Nailers of Bromsgrove.  Delicious refreshments were provided by Jackie Parker and Di Pardoe.

On Friday 14 April Diane Bothwell will be encouraging us to make, 'marzipan Lion on eggs'.  This sounds very intriguing, especially as it's Good Friday, so do come along and support us.

Refreshments will be provided by Jean Sleigh and Penny Lydon.

February meeting

Our next meeting was on Friday 10 February, when Petra from Perpetual Wellbeing (located at Dodford Crossroads) joined us to give a demonstration of Flexibility and Movement.  She will provided a handout to give us ideas to do simple exercises at home.

It was a good turnout and all who attended thought it was well worth the effort!

Last minute update - due to bad weather expected later, and low turnout anticipated, we have decided to cancel tonight's meeting.  Sorry.
See you in February!

Firstly, a Happy New Year to all!

We hope you enjoyed your Christmas break and look forward to a new 2017.

Our first meeting of the year is on Friday 13th!

Pat Squires will be our President for the next few months, at least, so let's give her all the support we can.

The theme of the January meeting has not yet been decided, so watch this space...

December meeting

At November's meeting, Jackie has decided that, after 11 years, she is standing down as President.
We are hoping that someone will step forward at the Xmas meeting, in order to keep the Dodford WI going.

The Christmas Party will be on 8th December.
The boys haven't been invited this year, so it's just all us girlies!
Hot food and entertainment provided.
Please come along girls and show appreciation for all the Committee members who have worked hard this year.

Don't forget to bring Santa's Socks with presents inside.
Bingo will be available on the night.

Bring the usual cutlery, glasses, etc, to save on washing up - especially as the dishwasher is out of order in the hall at the moment!
